The Americase HM224B Super Box program has completed design testing and certification of HM224B compliant containers for Oxygen Bottles. Design testing is currently in progress on compliant containers for Oxygen Generators. Americase and Akro Fireguard have partnered together in development and production of HM224B compliant containers. All Americase HM224B Super Box containers meet the requirements set forth by PHSMA. October 2009 Mandatory Compliance Date for HM-224B
New Critical Requirements for all U.S. Commercial Airlines Carrying Oxygen Cylinders and Generators - Mandated by the Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Rule HM-224B (CFR 49 Parts 173, 175 and 178). The new DOT31FP designation requires that containers for Oxygen Cylinders and Oxygen Generators not only meet the ATA 300 Category 1 requirements for Reusable Shipping Containers, but also meet the Flame and Heat Penetration requirements set forth in the HM-224B rule.
